DUBAI: Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, the Dubai Mallathon officially begins this Friday, transforming the city’s top shopping centres into climate-controlled walking and running tracks for the month of August.

Launched in line with Dubai’s Year of Community and Quality of Life Strategy, the Mallathon encourages an active lifestyle despite the summer heat. The initiative also supports the Dubai Social Agenda 33 and Quality of Life Strategy 33 by promoting wellness in accessible, air-conditioned spaces.

Taking place across nine major malls, the event provides more than 10 kilometres of indoor tracks open daily from 7am to 10am. Whether you're a resident, tourist, or mall employee, the Mallathon offers a unique opportunity to stay active in comfort.

Where to walk

Participating malls include:

  • Dubai Mall
  • Dubai Hills Mall
  • Mall of the Emirates
  • City Centre Deira
  • City Centre Mirdif
  • Dubai Marina Mall
  • The Springs Souk
  • Dubai Festival City
  • Festival Plaza

Each venue is designed to host morning fitness sessions, from casual walks to brisk runs, creating a welcoming space for families, children, senior citizens, and members of the ‘MyDubai Communities’ initiative.

Win prizes and stay healthy

Dubai Mallathon is not just about fitness – there’s plenty of fun and rewards along the way. Participants can take part in daily activities and weekend sports challenges, with prizes ranging from over 40 iPhones and 10 tablets to shopping vouchers, gift cards, and more.

The Ministry of Defence, which sponsors the initiative alongside the Dubai Sports Council, has reaffirmed its commitment to public health and social wellbeing. Uber and Careem are also onboard with exclusive ride discounts for attendees, making access to malls even more convenient.

In addition, select mall outlets will host free health check-ups, nutritional consultations, and healthy food options to complement the fitness focus. The Community Development Authority will also lead ‘Walking for Better Health’ sessions, aimed especially at senior citizens, reinforcing the inclusive spirit of the event.

Free and easy to join

Participation is completely free and open to all. Anyone interested can register online. Upon signing up, participants will receive a digital participation card for access to challenges and giveaways throughout the month.

Organised by the Dubai Sports Council and supported by the Ministry of Defence, the Mallathon is backed by key partners including Mai Dubai, UAE Sports For All Federation, Al Tadawi Specialty Hospital, and Dubai Cooperative Society.
